Richard B. Cheney has served as a public servant for many years and is also a successful businessman. The current position he holds is the Vice-President of the United States. Cheney has been a prominent name in Washington over the years. George W. Bush was the fourth president whom he served. Bush picked Cheney as his vice president candidate in July 2000, citing Cheney's insight judgment and experience. Dick Cheney is a former chief of the staff of a President, he was a member of Congress and was Secretary of Defense. Cheney is a man with integrity whom is admired by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney said he views his job as a trustworthy and discreet adviser to Bush's administration. Cheney said that when he decided to accept the Republican nomination to vice-president Cheney was looking forward to working alongside a President who works with all parties in order to accomplish his goals. He will work with his opponents in trust and respect. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941, the child of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. After 13 years of age, old, he relocated with his family to Casper in the western part of Wyoming in Wyoming, where his father was the director of the local district of soil conservation in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
