April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her love for music writing. April's very first song was called Different. She wrote it at 12 years of age. At 14 old, she spent the majority of her time creating song ideas and perfecting her music. The songwriting began along with her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April also included additional topics in her track"Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt with issues such as peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal ideas. Lockhart works in partnerships at the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry with a huge following of her own. Her birthplace didn't come having a left-handed hand, which is the reason she's who she is. It's just not the whole story. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not shy away from her status as disabled and does not focus on it. What message is it sending? We are all more than our physical selves. Our identities are complicated and encompass a variety of dimensions. Lockhart talks via video in Nashville. "I do not intend to let it define my existence. I'm not looking to be only recognized as an expert in disabilities. This doesn't influence my day-to-day activities. I carry on the same way as I always do and have come up with my own ways to adapt. Because it's part of who I am and something worthy of talking about. Self-acceptance is a long marathon however Lockhart is a true inspiration for this aspect. Yet, she confesses that she has had periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance as well as wearing clothes which displayed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she wants. and she shares her pictures to social networks. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's hard to say if you'll ever reach the point of no return. But I think that's for everyone, whatever their insecurity is. It's essential to surround yourself with people who can identify and feel your heart.
